Goals:
The S4 Express Chinese course helps students strengthen their language skills and exam techniques with extended lessons for deeper practice. Students will focus on improving composition, comprehension, and vocabulary, building confidence to succeed in the O-level Chinese exam.
Students will learn new vocabulary from the S4 Express Chinese syllabus while revisiting vocabulary covered in S1–S3. Key idioms from MOE's exam list and the textbook will also be taught to strengthen word knowledge
Covers various types of comprehension passages (narrative, prose, expository, and argumentative). Students will be guided step-by-step through questions to improve their answering techniques, expression, and summarisation skills.
Writing practices will span a range of topics and formats—including emails, situational writing, and stimulus-based compositions—to enhance students' writing ability and exam readiness.
Regular oral practice is conducted throughout the year. After the O-Level Paper 1 and 2 exams in Term 2, students will attend six intensive oral and listening comprehension lessons, which include 1-on-1 oral mock sessions with the teacher to build confidence and real-world experience for the O-Level oral exam.
Each term features selected news articles for discussion and analysis to broaden general knowledge, understand news structure, and sharpen critical thinking skills.
Following principles of memory retention, content from the previous 3–4 lessons will be revisited regularly to strengthen recall and reinforce learning.
