Goals:
The S4 Higher Chinese course is designed to equip students with advanced language skills and exam strategies, with extended lessons for deeper learning. Students will focus on complex texts, composition techniques, and critical analysis to confidently tackle the O-level Higher Chinese exam and beyond.
Students will learn S4 Higher Chinese vocabulary while reviewing key vocabulary from S1 to S3. Lessons include MOE-required idioms and textbook idioms to strengthen overall word knowledge.
Covers different types of comprehension passages (narrative, prose, and expository). Students are guided through answering techniques step-by-step to strengthen their expression and summarizing skills.
Students will practise various composition formats—emails, blogs, forum posts, speeches, situational and argumentative essays—to enhance writing proficiency across different contexts.
Aligned with exam requirements, this component explains sentence structures and includes repeated practice to strengthen answering techniques.
Students are taught how to identify key points and summarise effectively through repeated drills.
Each term, students will read and analyse selected news articles to broaden their general knowledge, understand news structures, and sharpen critical thinking skills.
Based on memory retention principles, a review of past content is done every 3–4 lessons to reinforce learning.
