Goals:
The S3 Express Chinese course helps students build a strong foundation in language while developing essential skills in writing, reading, and passage analysis. Through focused practice in composition, comprehension, and vocabulary, students refine their language abilities, preparing them for the challenges of the O-level Chinese exam.
Students will learn vocabulary from the Express Chinese textbook 1–2 lessons ahead of school, along with commonly used idioms and proverbs in secondary school. Weekly dictation reinforces retention.
Covers various comprehension question types (narrative, prose, expository, and argumentative). Students are guided through questions step-by-step to strengthen their expression and summarizing skills.
Writing practice includes different themes and formats such as emails, situational writing, and stimulus-based compositions to improve writing ability.
Based on common topics, students are taught how to deliver oral reports and engage in conversations, providing opportunities to express themselves and gain confidence.
Each term features different news articles to broaden students’ knowledge, introduce news structure, and enhance critical thinking.
Every 3–4 lessons, content previously covered is revisited to strengthen memory and understanding.
